College Essay Workshop for Bellmore-Merrick’s Rising Seniors

The Community Parent Center, in cooperation with the Central High School District, is offering a Pre-College Essay Writing Boot Camp designed specifically for students in the class of 2027.
Facilitated by Melanie Sirof, a CHSD teacher and freelance writer, this four-session summer workshop will guide students through one of the most important parts of the college application process, the Common Application essay.
During this hands-on writing intensive, students will brainstorm, draft, revise, and refine their personal essay while developing strategies for supplemental essays before the busy fall application season begins. The workshop combines practical writing instruction with personalized feedback, helping students tell their unique stories with confidence and authenticity.
Families may choose from one of two workshop sessions:
• Workshop 1: Monday, August 10 – Thursday, August 13, 2026
• Workshop 2: Monday, August 17 – Thursday, August 20, 2026
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. each day
All sessions will be held in the Board Room at Brookside School, 1260 Meadowbrook Road, North Merrick.
The registration fee is $100, which includes a $20 non-refundable registration fee. Pre-registration and payment are required to reserve a spot.
